Stockholm’s Free Museums: Modern Art Time!
Back in January, we bought you an exclusive post on how you can visit The Nobel Museum in Stockholm for free.
Well, our exploration of Stockholm’s free museums doesn’t end there. With a few insider tips, we will show you how you can explore many of Stockholm’s treasures for free – in fact, you can check out 12 free museums here!
It use to be that Friday evening was the time to visit Moderna Museet (The Modern Art Museum) as they offered free entry for a small two hour window. But Moderna Museet had bigger plans…
Free Entry For All!
That’s right! In January 2016, Moderna Museet began to offer free entry to the Moderna Museet Collection and many of their temporary exhibitions as well.
Throughout the year, they also have special exhibitions happening which do require an entry fee, but we were suitably impressed at all the artwork on display in their free galleries and temporary exhibitions.
What To Expect:
While some modern art exhibitions might not be for everyone, we were really impressed at the diversity in style, medium, and message and appeal of the artwork.
I was also impressed with their current exhibitions to see the works of world-renowned artists including Picasso, Mondrian, Edvard Munch and Andy Warhol.
So…whether you are an art lover or complete art novice, Moderna Museet makes for a pretty good trip out and about in Stockholm.
